November Newsletter

Hello dear friends. This edition of the newsletter shows how you work with your neighbours. This is something we are looking to promote more and recognise common values in each other. We talk about a photography project between tenants, helping out at the eastern Curve Garden, and making films for our charity tenants.

OUTpatients x Lowe Seger

Two of your neighbours collaborated on a significant project as part of the OUTpatients peer programme.

Lowe H Seger created and led a series of smartphone photography workshops. Following a theme, attendees created meaningful images, which will be on display in the Print House gallery.

Mediorite x LAWA

In the same spirit as OUTPatients and Lowe, Mediorite has made a promotional film for LAWA. As I am sure you know by now, we fund Mediorite’s SHIFT training programme for young filmmakers.

Trainees from this course made this film with Mediorite staff. They used an all-female crew including in the edit as the charity is run by women only.

This was a really amazing project to work on for a charity in our building that is doing vital work for their community. Learning about the projects they run and getting to know the women and more about Latin American culture over the production has been a really enriching experience. I want to thank the women involved for sharing their stories and shining a light on the services that LAWA provides.

African Community School

ACS joined us two months ago, and they have been busy. They run training courses and after school clubs for the people of Hackney. Over the last two months they have held over 20 different courses and welcomed over 150 learners.

One of the many reasons that ACS found a home with us is that we could offer them a training room where they can do their work. Mediorite and LAWA also share this space.

Tenants Lunch

Yesterday Lowe Segar hosted a Swedish themed lunch for his fellow tenants; there were meatballs and mashed potatoes. Lowe also took some time to explain his time with Bootstrap, and the inspiration for his photography work and projects.

Thank you Lowe and all those that attended.

Bootstrap Charity is a workspace and business-led charity that promotes responsible business as a way to address inequality in Hackney.
